Training Seminar on EU AML/CFT Architecture and Role of Legal Professions
March 31, 2022 - April 1, 2022
#LightSeminar_Rome
Background
LIGHT aims to enhance the functional competency of lawyers and notaries through four main profiles, which will let training participants:
- Acquire experimental insight and knowledge in EU law on AML/CFT;
- Improve their capacity in ML/FT risk assessment;
- Perform AML/CFT reporting obligations;
- Analyse business relationships without intermediates.
Four high-level seminars will cover these profiles. The transnational character of these training activities makes it possible for legal practitioners of different nationalities to attend the event and is meant as a useful tool to promote trust among legal practitioners of different countries and for ensuring smoother cross-border judicial proceedings. Moreover, being face-to-face, the seminars should help create an informal network. Such network may be useful for solving everyday cross-border issues.
Each seminar will combine theory and practice, such as case studies and workshops.
The Training Seminar
Federnotai, the Italian Federation of Notaries, is organising the first training seminar in Rome, with support from Confprofessioni (Italian Confederation of Liberal Professions) and UINL (International Union of Notaries). Above all, it will deal with EU law on AML/CFT and on the role of legal professions. It will also focus on red tape, with a workshop dedicated to gathering best practices in this field.
Several speakers will join the two-day event. It is worth mentioning in particular the three main trainers: notary Cesare Licini, expert on AML policies; judge Mario Palazzi, public prosecutor of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate at the Court of Rome; Hon. Sen. Felice Casson, former public prosecutor. DG FISMA of the European Commission, competent on financial stability, financial services and capital markets, will also attend the seminar, together with many other professionals and representatives of the main competent authorities at national level.
